Teak is naturally distributed in Myanmar, India, Thailand and Laos within the range of 9°00 'to 25°30' north latitude and 73° to 104°30 'east longitude. It is widely planted in over 70 countries and regions in tropical Asia, Africa, Latin America and Oceania, with artificial forest planting areas ranging from 4.35 million to 6.89 million hectares.
Due to teak's excellent ecological adaptability, good ornamental characteristics and high wood value, although it is an introduced tree species in China, it has now been introduced or planted on a large scale in over 80 counties and cities in Yunnan, Taiwan, Hainan, Guangdong, Guangxi, Sichuan, Fujian and Guizhou provinces of China.
At present, the total area of teak plantations in China is approximately 35,000 hectares, among which Yunnan is the main base for teak plantation cultivation in China, with a preserved area of about 13,000 hectares.
